Scott Wallace is the founder and Head Instructor of Mount Dennis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Scott began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2007. Just a few months later, he met Professor Jorge Britto and has trained under him ever since. Nearly twenty years later, he is proud to be a 1st Degree Black Belt and a member of the Jiu-Jitsu For Life Team.
Over the past two decades, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has shaped every aspect of Scott's life. It has taught him discipline, resilience, humility, and the value of lifelong learning. While he has competed throughout Ontario, earning tournament victories including a Provincial Championship and a Grapplers Quest title, as well as representing his team at the World Masters, his greatest passion today is sharing the art with others.
As a Mount Dennis resident and father of two children attending local schools, Scott understands the challenges many families face when trying to access quality extracurricular activities. For years, training meant spending hours each week driving across the city after work and school—time that could have been spent together as a family.
Mount Dennis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was created to change that.
Scott's vision is to provide a high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy right in the heart of the community, giving local children, adults, and families the opportunity to train close to home. Whether walking from a nearby school, cycling from the neighbourhood, or stopping in after work, students can access world-class instruction without leaving their community.
His goal is to build more than a martial arts academy. He is committed to creating a welcoming environment where students of all ages can develop confidence, discipline, resilience, and respect while learning authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Whether a student's goal is self-defence, fitness, competition, or simply becoming part of a positive community, everyone is encouraged to progress at their own pace.
Even after nearly twenty years on the mats, Scott still considers himself a student first. His commitment to continual learning and improvement is reflected in the culture he strives to build at Mount Dennis BJJ—one where instructors and students grow together through dedication, humility, and a shared love of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
